Mission San Louis Rey



Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, known as the King of the Missions, was founded on June 13th, 1778 by Father Lasuen and administered by Father Peyri. The Mission is notable for its impressive architecture - a composite of Spanish, Moorish, and Mexican. The first Pepper Tree in the State of California, planted in 1830, is still growing in the Sacred Garden.

Mission of San Antonio de Pala

San Antonio de Pala Mission, built in 1816 to bring religion to the Indian population, is the center of Community Life for the Pala Indian Tribe today. The Pala Mission is the only mission still fulfilling its original purpose of serving the indigenous people.

Mission of San Antonio de Pala
Officially founded at Pala on 13 June 1816, this mission
has become the Mother Church of Catholicism at
Cahuilla, La Jolla, Pauma, Pichanga, Rincon, Santa
Rosa, and Temecula in Southern California.
Consequently, on this 180th anniversary, the
Alhambrans of Ben Ziri Caravan No. 218 are happy to
recognize this Mission as a Catholic Historical site.

Erected in 1996 by the International Order of Alhambra.
