FUND RAISING

Porto Caravan conducts two major fund raising events. The first of these is the Church Collection program. The other is the newspaper recycling program for supporting the International Order of Alhambra, Caravan administration and donations to local charities.

Church Collections

With endorsement of the Bishop of Arlington and approval of Pastors, an annual collection is made at parishes in Northern Virginia, for the "Special Kids-Special Needs" program. Most of these collections are conducted in the spring and summer months on dates approved by Pastors. Currently these funds are donated to Paul VI Catholic High School Options program and the diocese sponsored "Keyboard for Kids" program.

Newspaper Recycling

Through the giant efforts of a few Sir Nobles and Sultanas dedicating a few hours each month, Porto Caravan is able to provide financial service and support to a number of charitable organizations that help persons developmentally disabled by mental retardation. Among those organizations or entities receiving such financial support, made possible by the Porto Caravan newspaper recycling program, are:
